While working full time continues to fund my hobbies of quilting and collecting fabric, I do find the time to enjoy retreats and sew days with my quilty friends. I’ve quilted for more than 20 years, owing that passion to my Great Grandma, Grandma, Mom, Auntie, and Great Aunties. I am a “happy” quilter that doesn’t stress over the perfection of it, I call it pattern modification and move on. I am lucky to have a husband that shares my stash and longarms my quilts for me.

Unlike many of her fellow quilters, Sheila came from a long line of “non” sewers. At the age of 13 her passion led to sewing when her grandmother bought her first turquoise Singer sewing machine (which she still owns). Starting with garment sewing she moved into home decor design, crafts, and then quilting. Since taking her first quilting class in college over 45 years ago she hasn’t stopped! Joining IEQG in 2005 she has held many chair and board positions, including president. She loves trying new patterns and techniques but spends most of her time on her long arm machine!

I am married with three daughters. I have been sewing since I was 4, with a needle and scrap fabric from my grandmother. When I was about 20 I started making rag quilts, and from there evolved to pieced quilt tops. I love to make quilts using traditional blocks in modern colors and prints. I will forever love stitching as it brings me so much joy. I look forward to serving on the board this year.

I began quilting a few years ago, although my love of sewing started at a young age when my mom taught me how to sew. Since my mom was also a quilter, quilting feels like a special connection to her. I enjoy creating quilts, along with spending time gardening, sewing, and traveling.

Secretary

Monica learned how to sew from her mother at age nine. Over the years, she enjoyed making garments and crafts, including her own prom dress, clothing for her daughter, and even outfits for her daughter’s dolls. In 2017, Monica discovered quilting and began taking classes at a quilt shop. Her passion quickly grew, leading her to work at a quilt shop where she was introduced to longarm quilting. Shortly afterward, she joined the Inland Empire Quilters Guild in 2018. Monica continues to expand her quilting knowledge by exploring a variety of quilting styles and techniques. Today, she owns her own business specializing in embroidery and longarm quilting services. When she’s not quilting, Monica enjoys traveling with her husband and their dog, Joey.

When I was in junior high I took sewing/stitching as an elective, and that is when I fell in love with “playing” with fabric. Hand stitching, specifically cross stitching, got me through those difficult teenage years. I always wanted to be a quilter, but life got in the way. I went to college, started my career, and became a mother and wife. In 2018 my mother-in-law passed away and I inherited a Grandmother’s Garden quilt that wasn’t bound. I walked into the quilt store in Big Bear to see about getting the quilt bound, and before you know it I was signed up for the beginner quilt class, and my addiction to quilting started. I love the process of creating something beautiful from little pieces of fabric. None of the friends I had were quilters, so in 2022 I joined the guild to meet like-minded, fabric-obsessed friends, and what a blessing it has been. I found my peeps
