Challenge Quilt Projects

Our guild challenges are an exciting opportunity for members to showcase their creativity and skills. The challenges chairperson selects a theme, and members work within those parameters to create stunning quilted works of art. These challenges inspire innovation and allow us to explore new techniques while sharing our unique interpretations with the guild. It's a wonderful way to push our boundaries and celebrate the diverse talents within our guild.

Here is a list of various challenges and projects we have every year.

Row by Row

Row by Row Quilt Challenge  are quilts made up of rows of quilt blocks or components with each row distinct from the others.

This is typically done by a quilt making a row to match the theme of the original owners row  then given to another quilter to put her spin on the quilt.

Ultimately, the quilt is given back to the original row quilter for her to sandwich together to complete a quilt

Quilter's Quest

This year there's a Quilter's Quest available to all members. There are three levels: Novice, Skilled, and Expert. Each level has two requirements and thirteen other activities to choose from to complete a total of ten activities.

Strip Swap

A strip swap or exchange is a fun and collaborative quilting activity where participants cut the required amount of 2 1/2 inch strips from fabrics based on a selected theme. Here are some popular swap themes:

• Patriotic

• Christmas

• Beach

• Civil War

• 1930's

Participants then submit their strips to the designated organizer, who sorts and distributes them so that everyone receives a variety of strips from the other participants. Afterward, quilters use these strips to create a quilt of their choice and return to showcase their finished creations.

Soap Sack Project

In September of 2017, S.A.C.K. (Supporting A Community with Kindness), was started as a grassroots effort to connect people from all over the world while crocheting/knitting soap sacks and then donating them (with a bar of soap in each one) to homeless shelters, food pantries, veteran clinics, relief efforts and social service agencies.

If you would like to donate a finished soap sack, you can find the pattern here: www.soapsacks.com
